This Week's Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout Outs

Shout out to a Mayer Brown team led by partner John Nadolenco and associates Joseph Vescera and Iryna Riechkina that secured a defense win for Chinese electric car startup Karma Automotive LLC and its former CEO. Plaintiff VLF Automotive was seeking $18.5 million in damages claiming that the defendants accessed VLF’s plans to develop an electric “luxury Humvee” for the Chinese market as part of a proposed partnership, only to go it alone. After a bench trial in March, Orange County Superior Judge Jonathan Fish entered a stipulated judgment last week for Karma on VLF’s claims.
