Mayer Brown was named “Team of the Year” in the Securitization and Structured Finance category and advised on a winning transaction named “Deal of the Year” in the Project Finance category in the 2023 IFLR Americas Awards. Mayer Brown associate Gonzalo Go was also recognized as a “Rising Star.”
Team of the Year: Securitization and Structured Finance
Mayer Brown was honored in this category for the second year in a row because of its continued leadership in the Americas, including particularly notable work in Latin America in the past year such as the novel warehousing securitization for Mexican fintech company Xepelin, and a first of its kind cross-border investment fund (FIDC) for solar energy-linked assets for the Brazilian fintech company Solfacil.
Deal of the Year: Project Finance – São Paulo Metro Linha 6
Mayer Brown represented Acciona, who along with its partners in the Linha Universidade consortium, closed the project financing for the Line 6 of the São Paulo subway in Brazil. Total project costs are approximately $3 billion, with the project financing package comprising $1.4 billion, with the members of the consortium and the state of São Paulo contributing the balance. This is the largest-ever project financing for a public-private infrastructure project in Latin America.
Individual Award: Rising Star – Gonzalo Go
Gonzalo Go is an associate in Mayer Brown’s Corporate & Securities practice in New York. He represents companies, investment banks and sponsors in public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, including initial public offerings, business combinations with SPACs, shelf registration statements, follow-on offerings, medium-term note programs, issuances exempt from registration, investment-grade debt offerings and securitizations.
The IFLR Americas Awards focus exclusively on “legal innovation in cross-border transactions that reached financial close during the 2022 calendar year.”
