- Competition laws of the EU, Member States and internationally
We acted for Eurofer in its intervention before the European Commission in relation to the offer by BHP Billiton for Rio Tinto. The Commission issued a Statement of Objections. BHP Billiton abandoned the transaction.
- EU Law and Government affairs
We are privileged to have our government affairs practice lead by Dr. Günter Burghardt, who was Ambassador of the European Union in Washington D.C., after having held a number of senior positions at the European Commission over the past 35 years.
- International and Benelux Tax
Our Brussels tax team has been leading the Pan-European structuring and organization of operations of a USD 500 million opportunistic fund with operations in the US.
- Regulatory laws
We are honoured that Dr. Anna Gergely has been made a member of the Scientific & Technical Council. This is a body of the International Risk Governance Council (IRGC), an international independent organisation whose purpose is to help the understanding and management of emerging global risks that have impacts on human health and safety, the environment, the economy and society at large (www.irgc.org)
- Trade and Customs laws
In litigation against the European Commission before the EU's Court of First Instance (Case T-249/06), we obtained the first ever measures of inquiry ordering the EU institutions to produce confidential documentary evidence allegedly supporting the findings in an anti-dumping proceeding. Whilst the lingua franca of the office is English, our professionals are drawn from several countries and we can work in Bulgarian, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Russian and Spanish. |
