Experience 

Gregory Barton concentrates his practice on tax controversies and litigation. He handles audits, administrative appeals, and litigation of federal tax disputes, with particular emphasis on cross-border transfer pricing of tangible and intangible goods and services.

Gregory also works on planning and structuring cross-border movement of tangible and intangible property, transfer pricing documentation, and summons enforcement (including designated summonses). He has extensive experience with Advance Pricing Agreements, Competent Authority negotiations, and mediation. His other areas of interest involve Freedom of Information Act issues and deductibility versus amortization of expenses.

Notable Engagements 

  • Represented many corporate clients in tax controversies involving the Internal Revenue Service, including Nissei Sangyo America, Ltd. v. IRS, National Semiconductor Corporation v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Hitachi America, Ltd. v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue, and NestlĂ© Holdings, Inc. v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue.
