Experience
Stephen is a structured finance partner in Mayer Brown's London office. Stephen advises leading financial institutions and corporations on both sides of the Atlantic in connection with a wide range of structured finance and securitisation transactions, with a focus on complex cross border deals. His work in this area covers a broad spectrum including, structuring commercial paper conduits, structured investment vehicles, multi-country trade receivable securitisations, securitisation bridge and private equity take-out deals, whole business transactions and intellectual property financings. He is currently advising EMI and Terra Firma Capital Partners on a range of matters.
Stephen also has experience in debt restructuring and insolvency matters. He is "prominent" (Legal 500, 2009) in general structure finance and securitisation and has become one of the European market's leading legal advisers with respect to structured investment vehicles. Stephen has been at the forefront of market developments from establishing many of the second generation vehicles to closing complex cross-border restructurings during the recent market turmoil. He has advised a range of stakeholders including, financial sponsors, investment managers, individual directors and creditors. He is currently advising the joint receivers of Golden Key Ltd. (in receivership), a structured investment vehicle.
Stephen joined Mayer Brown in 2002 and was appointed partner in 2008. Prior to that he practised in New York.
