Experience 

Stephen Hood’s practice focuses in corporate, securities, infrastructure, project and other finance and cross border mergers and acquisitions.  He is experienced in advising lenders and sponsors on project finance and energy corporate finance deals across Latin America.  He has worked on several Brazilian IPOs.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Stephen worked for another major global law firm where at various times he ran the firm’s São Paulo office, its New York office, its Hong Kong office, and, from London its Global Securities Practice.  He is highly praised in Chambers Latin America 2009 as “’pragmatic, business-oriented and committed to getting a great final result for his client.’ Clients also benefit from his excellent contact in Brazil, which ‘can really help to smooth the process in a complicated deal.’” One client described him as “one of the strongest lawyers I’ve ever worked with.” Stephen speaks English and Portuguese.
