Experience
Jeremy Snead is an associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, focusing on Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Insolvency. He joined Mayer Brown in 2007. His previous experience includes being a part of the team conducting a successful challenge to a major retail Company Voluntary Arrangement, working on the restructuring and refinancing of a major automotive supply company and a client secondment to Ford Motor Company.
Jeremy has conducted pro bono litigation under the Disability Living Allowance scheme, Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals and worked on the establishment of charitable enterprises. He currently volunteers at the Royal Courts of Justice branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau and is a member of an advocacy pro bono scheme for the Royal British Legion. Notable Engagements
- Acting for the liquidators of a Cayman based hedge fund on litigation strategies to recover funds from jurisdictions including Ireland, Switzerland, France and the UK misappropriated from the hedge fund as a result of the fraud and misfeasance of directors.
- Advising clients on the use of retention of title clauses in relation to both Asset Backed Lending and commercial supply contracts.
- Recovery of goods and monies subject to retention of title clauses in large-scale retail administrations.
- Advising creditors in the Administration of Lehman Brothers International (Europe) and other Lehman entities.
- Advising creditors of Icelandic Banks Kaupthing, Landsbanki and Glitnir following special measures by the Icelandic Government.
- Obtaining freezing orders and recovering high-value shotguns following the financial collapse of a major gun dealer involving conversion and fraud.
- Successfully acting for "short" creditors of Sigma Finance Corporation in a "pay as you go" application to the High Court ([2008] EWHC 2997 (Ch)) and defending this decision in the Court of Appeal ([2008] EWCA Civ 1303).
- Advising pension schemes on the provision of security and recovery of debts due by participating employers.
- Working on a cross border investigation into breaches of US securities and tax laws.
