On November 6, 2008, Mayer Brown received the Distinguished Service award from the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation, in recognition of the firm’s work in the pro bono community.  Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation was formed to coordinate, promote and support the involvement of the legal community in the voluntary pro bono representation of individual clients from the ranks of Chicago area's poor and working poor. Mayer Brown hosted CVLS’s Annual Award Ceremony, where awards were also given to the Honorable Michael B. Hyman and to Kirkland & Ellis. Mayer Brown partner, Joanna K. Horsnail is on the CVLS Board of Directors.  Accepting the award on behalf of the firm was partner Matthew A. Rooney.
