Mayer Brown’s Raj De and Andrew Olmem named to Washingtonian’s “Most Influential People Shaping Policy in Washington” list

Mayer Brown partners Raj De and Andrew Olmem have been named to Washingtonian’s 2024 list of “Most Influential People Shaping Policy in Washington” in the National Security & Defense and Banking & Finance categories, respectively. The list recognizes Washington DC experts and advocates in the private sector who are “shaping public policy and changing the world we live in.”

Raj is a member of the firm’s global Management Committee. He leads the firm’s global Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice, co-leads the National Security practice and is a member of the Congressional Investigations & Crisis Management team. He handles cutting-edge legal and policy issues at the nexus of technology, national security, law enforcement and privacy. After nearly two decades in private practice and public service across all three branches of the US government, Raj is one of the most trusted voices in Washington. He has held senior appointments in the White House, the Department of Justice and the Department of Defense. Before rejoining Mayer Brown in 2015, he served as General Counsel at the US National Security Agency.

Andrew is the co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Financial Services Regulatory & Enforcement practice. He specializes in complex financial regulatory matters and investigations. He has been at the center of financial services policy debates both in and out of government for nearly twenty years A frequent speaker on economic policy, Andrew testified before Congress twice last year – once on the Basel endgame bank capital proposal; once on the fallout of the bank failures earlier this year. Prior to re-joining Mayer Brown, Andrew served in the White House as the Deputy Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and the Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. He was previously the Republican Chief Counsel and Deputy Staff Director at the US Senate Banking Committee. During his tenure in government, he played a key role in Congress’s consideration of numerous pieces of legislation, including the CARES Act and the Dodd-Frank Act.
