Mayer Brown ranked among Most Innovative Law Firms in Asia Pacific in 2021 by Financial Times
Mayer Brown is pleased to announce that the Financial Times has ranked the firm as one of the 12 Most Innovative Law Firms in Asia Pacific in the publication's "FT Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific 2021" report.
Mayer Brown has been ranked each year in the report since its launch in Asia Pacific in 2014.
The Financial Times also commended Mayer Brown and its Corporate & Securities partner Jason T. Elder for their role in the Government of Mongolia's US$600 million bond and concurrent tender offering.
The publication recognized that the transaction helped Mongolia deal with the impact of COVID-19, including huge debt repayments. "Mayer Brown advised the government on its bond issuance and tender offer to free up millions of dollars to spend on new sustainability initiatives, including projects to improve housing security, air pollution and sanitation," the report said.
The publication also highlighted the firm's inclusion of "collective action clauses to its contracts, enabling the government to restructure debt in future by giving it the right to impose a restructuring over an objecting minority."
"Thank you to the Financial Times for recognizing our role in this first-of-its-kind transaction in Asia," said Mr. Elder. "We are honoured to have been asked to support the Government of Mongolia in fulfilling its commitment to sustainability through the successful bond deal."
