Mayer Brown wins Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America 2023 award

Share
The Financial Times (FT) recognized Mayer Brown as the “Most Innovative Firm in People & Skills Development” as part of its Innovative Lawyers North America 2023 report. The firm was recognized for its first-of-its-kind Technology General Counsel in Residence (TGCR) program.

Modeled after entrepreneur-in-residence positions traditionally found at venture capital firms, the TGCR is designed as a short-term position for seasoned technology company general counsel. Mayer Brown has had two participants in the program since its launch earlier this year.

Mayer Brown was also “Highly Commended” in the “Access to Justice and Civil Rights” category for its education equity work—a core pillar under the firm’s racial and social justice initiative, Project Equity. The FT recognized Mayer Brown’s efforts to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline and improve education outcomes for vulnerable students. The firm partnered with Children’s Law Center to remove police officers from schools and replace them with alternative justice systems.

The FT’s annual Most Innovative Lawyers North America awards spotlight the firms and in-house teams who are using innovative approaches to deliver exceptional value to businesses and society.

In 2023, Mayer Brown received top rankings in all three FT Innovative Lawyers reports for North America, Europe and Asia.
