The foreign investors left stranded in Evergrande’s web of Chinese debt

Corporate & Securities partner Guiping Lu is quoted in this article discussing the remedies available to overseas investors in the Evergrande case. 

Guiping tells FT that overseas investors seeking redress will have to prove that private bond underwriters ignored clear red flags, rather than simply provided inaccurate information. That is a higher burden of proof than in more regulated equity offerings. "If you want to sue the [debt] underwriters, you need a legal basis," he says.
