Pedro Katz is an associate in the Energy and M&A practice of Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown in the Rio de Janeiro office.
His practice is focused on advising domestic and foreign companies in the structuring of projects in several infrastructure sectors, including power generation and transmission, oil and gas, gas-to-power, energy transition, logistics (railways, ports and highways) and mining.
Pedro has experience in the drafting, review and negotiation of various contracts, including EPC and EPC-M contracts, operation and maintenance contracts, operational contracts, capacity reservation contracts, dredging contracts, supply and services contracts. Pedro also advises its clients in the contractual management of claims, as well as in risk assessments and definition of strategies to mitigate them.
Erfahrung
- Advisory to clients in large scale power generation projects, including: (a) GNA I and II Thermal Power Plants (3GW, Latin America’s biggest thermal complex); (b) Marlim Azul Thermal Power Plant (565MW);
- Advisory to clients in wind and solar projects, in the States of Pernambuco, Piauí, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Norte, totaling more than 5GW;
- Advisory to clients in bioenergy projects, including: (a) a biorefinery for the production of 1 billion liters/year of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel, with an H2 associated plant; (b) a biomethane plant in Paulínia, São Paulo (Brazil’s largest plant);
- Advisory to clients in sustainability projects, including preservation and reforestation projects associated to the generation of carbon credits and biodiversity;
- Advisory to clients in urban mobility projects, including São Paulo subway’s Line 6 (Latin America’s largest mobility project);
- Advisory to clients in port projects, including the negotiation of operational contracts in the context of the sale of Terminals 16, 19 and 39 of the Santos Port;
- Advisory to clients in railway projects (long-term take-or-pay), including (a) the transportation of soybean and corn from the North of Brazil up to the Santos Port, (b) transportation of cellulose from São Paulo until the Santos Port;
- Advisory to clients in mining projects (construction and operation of mines and production plants), including: (a) lithium exploitation in the State of Minas Gerais; (b) nickel exploitation in the State of Goiás, (c) nickel exploitation in the State of Pará.
