Andrew Sarraf is an Australian qualified senior associate.

Andrew has over a decade of experience acting for clients on construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy, commercial and investment treat disputes globally. He has represented clients in a wide range of high value and profile matters arising out of major projects and transactions in the Middle East, the USA, the UK, Eastern and Western Europe, Asia and Australia.

Andrew’s practice focuses on international arbitration and he has acted for parties in disputes under the ICC, LCIA, DIAC, AAA, SCCA, ICSID, UNCITRAL and ad hoc rules. He has also handled matters in the English High Court including the Commercial Court and Technology and Construction Court and the Australian High Court, Federal Court and the Supreme Courts of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Andrew is a skilled advocate who has appeared unled before arbitral tribunals and the Courts. He has been opposed to experienced senior and junior counsel and has led complicated and long hearings, including cross-examining various witnesses and experts.

Andrew frequently publishes papers and is involved in talks and seminars relating to developments in Middle Eastern law.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2023, Andrew worked at a leading US disputes firm in London.

As well as English, Andrew is fluent in spoken and written Arabic and has worked on arbitrations and conducted advocacy in that language. Andrew is also conversational in French.

Acting for a world-renowned contractor in an arbitration valued at over US 500 million in the Middle East relating to the construction of a large international airport.
Representing a large multi-national contractor in relation to a project in Saudi Arabia in two separate SCCA arbitrations, which are being conducted in Arabic. Andrew is one of the lead advocates in the arbitrations.
Acting for a contractor in relation to an arbitration regarding the construction of a waste to energy plant in the United Kingdom.
Representing a large investor against a Middle Eastern state in relation to an ICSID investment treaty arbitration.
Representing a large construction company in respect of various claims (including disruption, variations and extensions of time) in relation to a large infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia.

Acting for a contractor in an English law governed, ICC dispute relating to the exclusive off take of large quantities of seamless steel products in Saudi Arabia.*
Representing a large construction company in an Omani law governed ICC arbitration.
Acting for the Owner in an ongoing series of ICC arbitrations relating to the design and construction of a major maritime project in Central America.
Representing a state-owned entity in a large-scale multi-billion pound, London seated, Qatari law governed, arbitration (ICC Rules) in respect of the construction of a large hospital in Doha, Qatar.*
Acting in an AAA arbitration on behalf of the Owner of a large hospital project in Los Angeles, California in respect of disputes concerning delays and defects to the project.*
Representing a UK based subsidiary to a major global power company in relation to an English law governed, LCIA arbitration arising from the management and operation of various solar power sites across the United Kingdom.*
Acting for a state-owned entity in two separate ICC arbitrations in respect of the construction of a railway project in the Middle East.*
Acting for the Owner in an ICC arbitration arising out of the construction of a solar power plant in Qatar.*
