LMA Talks Loan Markets podcast on the World Bank Group Guarantee Platform

Share

Mayer Brown Partner Ashley McDermott contributed to an insightful discussion about the new World Bank Group Guarantee Platform. The podcast was hosted by LMA Talks Loan Markets and was also joined by Ariane Di Iorio (Director Global Head Financial Institutions Group at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency - MIGA) and Richard Wilkins (Global Head of Export & Agency Finance Origination at JPMorgan Chase).

The podcast explored the reasons for the development of the Platform; examples of use in practice for structuring and documentation of transactions; and the outlook for the Platform and how everyone can engage with it. One perfect example brought up was a transaction led by Tauil & Chequer Advogados and Mayer Brown who advised Banco do Brasil, in a syndicated credit facility guaranteed by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

The World Bank Group Guarantee Platform was launched in July 2024 to mobilise private capital for development in emerging markets and developing economies. The Platform is housed at the MIGA and groups together guarantee products and experts from the World Bank, IFC - International Finance Corporation and MIGA. MIGA, a member of the World Bank Group, provides political risk insurance and credit enhancement guarantees, which help protect investments against non-commercial risks and can help improve access to capital.

The entire podcast is available on Spotify and the LMA Player.
