Shout out to a team at Mayer Brown that got a Seventh Circuit ruling this week upholding the firm’s summary judgment win in a False Claims Act lawsuit against client Carrington Mortgage Services LLC. The mortgage lender was accused of falsely certifying hundreds of loans that defaulted and triggered Federal Housing Administration insurance coverage. The Seventh Circuit, however, found that plaintiffs failed to show any allegedly false certification by the company caused government losses. The Mayer Brown team included partners Henninger “Hank” Bullock and Niketa Patel, counsel Eric White, and associates Nick Rodriguez and Anjanique Watt.
