Mayer Brown advises Atlas SP on groundbreaking securitization

Share

Mayer Brown advised Atlas SP, a division of Apollo Global Securities, LLC as sole structuring agent with respect to Maritime Partners, LLC’s inaugural capital markets issuance of $235.3 million of notes secured by a portfolio of 316 inland marine barges, towboats and their associated bareboat charters.

This transaction was the first asset-backed securities issuance composed entirely of inland marine vessels. The US inland and intracoastal marine business is regulated by a series of laws, including the Jones Act, and structuring and executing the transaction required care to ensure the relevant requirements of applicable law were followed.

“This transaction demonstrates Mayer Brown’s continued market-leading position in finance and structured finance transactions, and its ability to execute and deliver the most complex and innovative financings sought by investors and issuers,” said Mayer Brown partner David Linley.

The team was led by partners David Linley, Paul Jorissen and George Miller and included partners Erika Gosker, Neil Hamilton, James Taylor and Russel Nance, counsel John-David Treumann, and associates Meg Goodson, Juan Lopez Valek, Kaushik Goswami and Caitlin Schaefer.
