Mayer Brown named “Insurance Team of the Year” at Legal Business Awards 2023

London —  Mayer Brown was named “Insurance Team of the Year” at the Legal Business Awards 2023. In a year marked by challenging market conditions, Mayer Brown continued to facilitate the development of the ILS and convergence markets. This included advising Beazley PLC on its £350 million institutional placement, subscription and retail offer and, subsequently, on the launch of the world’s first cyber catastrophe bond.

Mayer Brown’s cross-border insurance-linked securities (ILS) and convergence team is a market leader and has acted on more ILS transactions over the past five years than any other law firm. Our work with Beazley PLC highlights our dominance in insurance capital markets as well as the ILS market, including in particular the Lloyd’s of London backed London Bridge platform.

The deals were led by London-based partner Colin Scagell and the teams included partner Rebecca Bothamley, senior associates Harriet Hainsworth and Christian Higham and associate Alexander Sperling (all London), partner Richard Spitzer and associate Niranjan Natarajan (both New York).
