Mayer Brown advises The Doctors Company on $1.3 billion acquisition of ProAssurance Corporation

A Mayer Brown team advised The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer, on its definitive agreement for the $1.3 billion acquisition of ProAssurance Corporation, an industry-leading specialty insurer with extensive expertise in medical liability, products liability for medical technology and life sciences, and workers’ compensation insurance.

The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026, and is subject to customary closing conditions, including approval by ProAssurance’s stockholders and the receipt of regulatory approvals.

The team was led by partners Andrew Noreuil and Ryan Ferris in the Chicago office and Jared Wilner in the New York office.
