Overview
Hormis represents a range of clients in litigation and dispute resolution, as well as compliance and investigations. His recent work includes advising financial institutions, engineering groups, and power technology companies on shareholder disputes, cross-border environmental damages class actions, anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance, and white collar criminal investigations.
Experience
- Advised a multinational engineering group in relation to the design and implementation of its anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance program.
- Represented the subject of a significant ongoing SFO investigation.
- Represented the defendant of an unfair prejudice petition at trial in the High Court, successfully having the petition dismissed on all counts. Continuing to act in relation to the petitioner’s application for permission to appeal.
- Acted for the defendant in cross-border environmental damages class action litigation involving issues of jurisdiction and foreign law.
- Achieved a favourable settlement for an international power technology company in a cross-border dispute arising from force majeure and post JV-exit issues.
- Prior to joining Mayer Brown, worked in the financial services regulation team of a multinational investment bank, advising the bank on its post-Brexit compliance particularly with UK MiFID II and EMIR.
