Overview

Mike Lackey previously served on Mayer Brown' global Management Committee, global Partnership Board, as lead of the global Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice and as the Partner-in-Charge of the Washington, DC office. Mike also serves on the Global Advisory Board of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF), and he was one of six men first named to serve on that Board. He currently serves WILEF as its Deputy Global Chairperson for Gold Standard Certification. Mike practices both civil and criminal litigation, focusing in particular on complex antitrust, cartel, government contracts, and competition cases.

Experience

Mike has defended companies and individuals for more than 30 years in some of the country’s highest profile matters. These matters have included mass torts and multi-jurisdictional litigation against private litigants, state attorneys general, and regulatory agencies, often involving billions of dollars in potential liability and intense public scrutiny. These cases typically involve large budgets and are closely monitored by the client’s senior leadership, requiring very effective communication and reporting.

Most recently, Mike led the defense of a large multinational corporation embroiled in high-profile mass tort litigation that attracted both national and international attention. The litigation involved thousands of cases brought by private plaintiffs and a state attorney general, and included class and individual actions in both federal and state courts.
