Overview
Amber Masha is an associate in Mayer Brown's Chicago office and a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Employment Litigation & Counseling practices. Amber represents clients in a wide range of complex litigation matters. She has significant experience in areas including labor and employment, internal investigations, toxic torts, antitrust, and complex electronic discovery.
Amber’s labor and employment experience includes defending employers in individual and class action matters involving wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblowing, and wage and hour disputes. She routinely appears before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies. Amber also advises clients on navigating, and ensuring compliance with, the ever-changing landscape of federal, state, and local employment regulations such as the FMLA, EPA, and ADEA. Additionally, Amber advises on labor and employment issues in corporate transactions, including conducting employment-related due diligence, negotiating contract provisions, and drafting employment agreements.
Amber maintains an active pro bono practice, with a focus on representing clients in criminal proceedings and advising non-profits on a wide range of employment matters, including terms of employment, policies and practices, and restrictive covenants. As an active member of her community, Amber serves as a mentor with the Chicago Scholars program in addition to serving on its Associate Board of Directors. Amber is also active with the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, having served on the Board of Directors for several years.
Prior to joining the firm, Amber served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Maria Valdez of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Honorable Rhonda Reid Winston of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. She also served as a Staff Attorney for the First District Appellate Court of Illinois.
