Overview
Gerard leads the Dubai office's International Arbitration and Construction & Engineering practices. He is recognised as "an excellent litigator" who provides clients with a "wealth of experience" in the Middle East and a "detailed knowledge of arbitration practice".
He has significant experience in "bet-the-farm" disputes, helping clients navigate their most complex and high-stakes legal challenges. Recently, in a classic "David v Goliath" battle, Gerard helped a family-run contracting business win a multi-million dollar ICC arbitration against a large, publicly-listed Middle East conglomerate.
Clients deeply value his technical ability and steady composure during times of crisis. For one client, he recently secured orders to prevent the liquidation of performance bonds worth hundreds of millions of dollars, protecting his clients from an existential threat to their business.
