Overview
Jamie R. Netznik is a partner in Mayer Brown's Chicago office and a member of the Restructuring practice. She specializes in distressed solutions and provides strategic advice and legal counsel to companies, creditors, and other stakeholders navigating in- and out-of-court restructurings and turnaround processes. Jamie has a deep understanding of both the legal and business landscapes and helps clients develop tailored solutions to maximize value, protect assets, and ensure a smooth process through a pragmatic and results-driven approach.
Experience
Represented
- Administrative agent of the approximately $600 million pre-petition senior secured facility and of the $105 million secured DIP financing in the chapter 11 case of Ebix, Inc., in the Northern District of Texas.
- Wolverine Fuels, LLC, the nation’s largest bituminous coal producers, on the successful out-of-court cross-border debt and off-take contracts restructurings resulting in more than $3 billion in projected increased revenue over the life of the various off-take.
- GWG Holdings, Inc. and certain of its subsidiaries, a publicly-traded life settlements and alternative investments company, as lead debtors’ counsel in their plan confirmation and successful emergence from Chapter 11 resolving more than $2.1 billion in debt. This restructuring was awarded “Restructuring of the Year ($1B to $5B)” at the M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards 2023.
- An agricultural company in the successful out-of-court restructuring of more than $800 million USD in unsecured debt, consisting of covenant relief amendments, the granting of collateral and obtaining consent from the lenders to raise up to $250 million of superpriority first lien debt.
- An information processing company in the strategic purchase of equity interests in certain financially distressed financial technology companies and substantially all of the assets of another financially distressed financial technology company through an out-of-court Article 9 foreclosure sale by a secured seller-party.
