Overview
Guilherme Silveira has over seven years of experience in both Court and commercial arbitration proceedings, especially in disputes related to oil and gas, energy and construction. Guilherme has been advising and acting as counsel for clients in domestic and international arbitrations held under the rules of the main arbitration institutions, including ICC, CAM-CCBC, CIESP/FIESP, CBMA, CAM/BM&F-BOVESPA, LCIA and in ad hoc proceedings. He is also experienced as tribunal secretary in arbitrations.

Represented:
- Barra Energia in multiple litigation and arbitration matters, including an ICC arbitration seated in Brazil arising from the concession agreement and an UNCITRAL arbitration administered by LCIA under the Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) of the BS-4 Block (Atlanta Field), located in the Santos Basin, Brazil. Winner of Latin Lawyer's 15th annual Deal of the Year Awards in the Disputes category (2021).
- A Brazilian oil company in an ICC arbitration seated in London, England, and governed by New York law, based on the JOA that regulates the E&P activities related to an oil and gas field located in the Campos basin, Brazil.
- A Malaysian major oil and gas company, co-claimant in an ICC arbitration seated in Rio de Janeiro commenced by a major Brazilian state-controlled oil & gas company against the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and four state entities. The dispute arises from a concession agreement for the exploration, development, and operation of a shallow-water oilfield located on the northeast of the Brazilian coast, and is related to the unification of oil fields by ANP.
- A Dutch drilling company in a court proceeding filed against Petrobras seeking nearly USD 270 million in compensation for the early termination of two charter agreements.
- An US company in multiple disputes in Brazil and the United Kingdom based on EPC contracts for the supply of FPSO modules.
- A Brazilian renewable energy subsidiary of an US multinational conglomerate, respondent in a ICC arbitration seated in São Paulo commenced by the largest Brazilian wind turbine blade manufacturer.
- An US drilling company in an administrative improbity action involving a USD 1.8 billion contract for the charter of a drilling vessel.
- A Chinese company in a lawsuit filed against Petrobras before the Bahia State Court under an EPC agreement, related to extra-costs incurred in the construction of gas pipelines.
- Brazilian affiliates of two multinational conglomerates operating in the renewable energy sector, in a CIESP/FIESP arbitration related to the construction of metal structures.
- An engineering company in a CBMA arbitration regarding the construction of electric modules for a FPSO vessel.
- Two Brazilian and two Swiss subsidiaries of the world's largest steel producer, in an ICC arbitration seated in Geneva against a Swiss company, and its Brazilian subsidiary, which is one of the world’s largest producer of graphite electrodes. The dispute arises out of several take-or-pay contracts for the purchase of graphite electrodes. The merits of the disputes are governed by Swiss and Brazilian law respectively.
- A Greek company in a lawsuit filed against Petrobras before the Rio de Janeiro State Court due to the withholding of sums by Petrobras in the context of a charter agreement.
- A major telecommunication company in a lawsuit arising out of three contracts entered into for the sharing of telecommunications infrastructure.
- An US companies in a CIESP/FIESP arbitration concerning earn out provisions.

- In the litigation aspects of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s purchaseof 90% of Petrobras’ stake in Transportadora Associada de Gás S.A. for USD 8,6 billion. Winner of Latin Lawyer’s 2019 Deal of the Year Awards.
