Overview

Yuma Takahashi has advised contractors, consultants and insurers in the construction industry on a wide range of matters in various dispute resolution processes, including multi-party proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court, arbitration, and adjudication. She joined Mayer Brown as a trainee and has worked in the firm’s Construction & Engineering, Corporate & Securities, Insurance & Professional Liability and Tax Groups.

 

Experience

  • Advising a main contractor in a dispute against a mechanical and electrical engineering consultant to recover substantial losses arising out of defective ground source heat pumps.
  • Representing a leading groundworks contractor in a dispute concerning the development of a housing estate.
  • Advising insurers on coverage in relation to remedial works carried out on a high-rise complex.
  • Defending an architect in TCC proceedings arising out of a claim brought by the main contractor concerning defective insulation and cladding, including claims for Building Liability Orders made pursuant to the Building Safety Act 2022.
