Overview
Our Gaming practice is supported by lawyers from the firm’s global offices who work cooperatively to provide regulatory and political solutions for clients in the Gaming industry. Our solution-driven Gaming practice is knowledgeable about the issues facing the highly regulated and scrutinized gaming industry. Our clients include publicly traded, government-controlled and privately held companies, as well as individuals and associations of Native American tribes.
Supported by lawyers from our corporate, finance, government, real estate and litigation practices, our gaming practice helps gaming owners, managers, vendors, operators and suppliers comply with their industry’s complex regulatory requirements. We assist clients in determining the applicability of licensing requirements and, where required, obtaining and renewing licenses. We counsel on compliance with gaming laws and regulations and frequently appear before state gaming regulatory bodies. Our lawyers also advise on the legality of gaming-related activity in new markets. We have also counseled clients considering expanding into new gaming platforms, many of which are subject to evolving legal standards.
Our extensive experience advising on the regulation of Indian tribal gaming under both state law and the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act includes drafting and negotiating tribal gaming compacts and ballot measures to advance tribal gaming interests. We have been engaged by Indian gaming associations to draft ballot measures extending gaming compacts and by tribes to draft a statewide ballot initiative to clarify the status of their gaming activities and to advise on potential ballot measures. We have also counseled tribes on other gaming-related matters, including proposed federal legislation and actions of the National Indian Gaming Commission, local developments, election law and federal lobbying laws.
