Mayer Brown Secures Asylum for Transgender Client

Pro bono advisor Marc Kadish worked with Mark Ortlieb, in-house counsel at AT&T, to successfully represent a transgender man from Mexico in his application for asylum after facing persecution from his family, the university where he obtained a degree in architecture and on the job in the construction industry. We also assisted our client in obtaining work permits, with multiple extensions. The matter was opened in 2014, and asylum was granted in May 2021.
