Tauil & Chequer Advogados advises Porto do Pecém operation worth 1.5 billion

Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown advised Banco Safra (lead coordinator) in the first commercial note issue of Porto do Pecém Geração de Energia S/A, for R$ 1.5 billion (nearly US$ 292 million). The proceeds of the offering were used for refinancing the long-term operation previously contracted with BNDES and other general corporate purposes. The issuer is currently part of the EDP Group and responsible for the operation of the thermoelectric plant Porto do Pecém Geração de Energia S/A, located in the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém (CIPP), in São Gonçalo do Amarante (CE).

The operation was led by partners Luis Montes (Banking and Finance) and Daniel Gunzburger (Infrastructure), and included associates Thatiana Siqueira and Camila Spinola.
