Northbound Swap Connect channel goes live

Banking & Finance partner Vincent Sum (Hong Kong) is quoted in the article discussing the launch of Swap Connect, a mutual market access scheme between Mainland China and Hong Kong for the trading of OTC derivatives.

Vincent said the scheme may assist investors in minimizing the impact of fluctuating interest rates on investment portfolios with significant China focus, and stimulate growth in the derivatives and capital markets of Hong Kong and China.

The scheme's eligible participants would be institutional investors, such as Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFIIs), RMB-Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (RQFIIs), qualified funds, Bond Connect investors, and others already approved by the Chinese regulatory authorities, he added.
