Mayer Brown receives National Immigration Project’s 2023 “Impact in the Courts” award

Mayer Brown received National Immigration Project’s 2023 “Impact in the Courts” award for its role as co-counsel, along with NILNLG and Kurzban Kurzban Tetzeli and Pratt P.A., in a case challenging the Trump administration’s illegal termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals.

The lawsuit resulted in a nationwide injunction in 2019 that halted the Trump administration’s revocation of TPS for nearly 60,000 Haitians living in the US. The government appealed the district court’s decision but President Biden later restored TPS for Haitians and other designated groups and the government settled the case.

The National Immigration Project recognized Mayer Brown for being “a leader in developing innovative approaches to pro bono work…guided by a sense of responsibility to assist the disadvantaged, to help build a more inclusive society, and to help provide equal access to justice.”
