Nil Daver

Nil Daver has experience advising clients on complex commercial and Investor-States disputes across a range of industry sectors, including banking, construction, energy and telecommunications. She has acted as counsel for States, investors and companies in international arbitrations conducted under the ICSID, ICC, LAMC and SCC Rules.

Nil was Deputy counsel in the Francophone team of the Secretariat of the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC in Paris. She is currently a co-chair of the Paris Very Young Arbitration Practitioners group (PVYAP). 

In addition to her native French and Turkish, Nil speaks English and Spanish, and has a working knowledge of Portuguese.

Experiencia

Examples of commercial and Investor-State arbitration experience include, or have included:

  • Representing a Middle Eastern bank in LAMC arbitration proceedings in connection with a subordination agreement for a loan that was the subject matter of previous arbitration proceedings, currently challenged before the national courts of the seat.
  • Acting for a European energy company in a multi-party commercial arbitration against the municipality of an Eastern European city under the Rules of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. The dispute arises from a long-term lease agreement.
  • Representing a Spanish EPC Contractor in an ICC arbitration against the owner of a combined-cycle power plant in a country of West Africa, related to the transportation of major equipment for the construction of the plant.
  • Representing the Claimant in Djamel Ben Ferah v. The Kingdom of Belgium (ICSID Case No. ARB/24/), a dispute arising under the Belgium-France bilateral investment treaty.
  • Acting for the Claimants in Veolia Environnement S.A. and others v. Republic of Lithuania (ICSID Case No. ARB/16/3), a dispute arising under the France-Lithuania bilateral investment treaty, in relation to Lithuania's district heating sector.
  • Representing US companies and their directors in an international arbitration conducted under the ICC Rules against a North African company.
  • Representing US companies and their directors in an international arbitration conducted under the ICC Rules against a North African private equity firm.
