Based in Washington DC, Grace Shie leads the firm’s Chambers-ranked Global Mobility & Migration practice. For over twenty years, she has advised multinational companies on cross-border employee mobility and use of available work permit and visa categories to meet the hiring and training needs of a global workforce. Grace represents a broad base of clients, from Fortune Global 500 firms operating in multiple jurisdictions, to start-ups and new market entrants. Her clients operate in a variety of industry sectors, including financial services and banking, asset management and insurance, technology and communications, security and defense, engineering and manufacturing, life sciences, and retail.
Experiencia
- Advise major aerospace and engineering firm on the deployment of U.S. engineers and technical staff to Asia, Europe, Middle East, and the Americas, including securing required work permits, residency authorization, and work permit exemptions to facilitate short-term and long-term assignments.
- Represent financial services firms and banks on use of the full range of US (a) non-immigrant options (including OPT, H-1B, L-1, E, TN, and O-1) to meet workforce needs and (b) immigrant options (including extraordinary ability, outstanding researcher, multinational executive, national interest waiver, and labor certification) for permanent residency sponsorship.
- Develop high-volume visa filing protocols for pharmaceuticals firm, including driving use of extraordinary ability, outstanding researcher, and national interest waiver solutions for Ph.D. STEM talent.
- Oversee Executive Desk services for technology consulting firm, managing executive business travel across global locations for the firm’s C-suite executives, management committee members, and board of directors.
- Develop risk assessment protocol for business travel to countries deemed “at risk” based on geopolitical developments implicating business and security concerns.
- Develop extraordinary travel solutions for challenges caused by travel bans and similar restrictions on travel (e.g., US National Interest Exemptions to overcome pandemic-related restrictions).
- Develop protocols to comply with the EU Posted Worker Directive across multiple EU countries, including meeting posted worker notification and compliance file requirements.
