DIEGO MIGUITA JOINS TAUIL and CHEQUER ADVOGADOS AS A TAX PARTNER

Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown announced that Diego Miguita has joined the firm as a partner in the Tax practice in São Paulo, Brazil, with a focus on the energy sector. He joins from VBSO Advogados.
As highlighted by Victor Galante, managing partner at Tauil & Chequer Advogados, Diego's addition to the team enhances the firm's ability to navigate Brazil's evolving tax landscape. "We continuously seek talented professionals who bring both expertise and a strategic perspective to our practice,” said Victor. “Diego’s arrival strengthens our Tax practice at a crucial time, as the implications of recent tax reforms and regulatory changes require sharp insight and a deep understanding. His experience will be invaluable as we guide our clients through these complex transitions."
In his practice, Diego advises both national and international clients across various industries on tax-related issues, with a particular focus on the energy sector, specifically in the areas of M&A, cross-border investments, and financial and capital market transactions. He has a proven track record in tax litigation, especially before the Administrative Tax Appeals Council (CARF) and the São Paulo State Tax Tribunal (TIT/SP), federal and state tax appeal bodies, respectively, where he has represented clients in high-stakes disputes. His work also includes providing legal opinions for trade associations, notably in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
A recognized tax law expert, Diego’s work has been acknowledged by top rankings, including Chambers and Partners and Best Lawyers. He was a finalist in Brazil's Leading Lawyers Awards in 2021. He holds International Financial Reporting (CertIFR) certifications from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and has authored two books on tax law, one focused on the energy sector. Additionally, Diego founded initiatives such as the IFRS Study Group and the social project Construindo Pontes.
