Janelene Chen regularly advises financial institutions, development banks, alternative financers and corporates across a broad spectrum of domestic and international finance transactions. Her practice covers all aspects of structured lending, which includes structured trade and commodities finance (such as receivables financing, payables finance, reserve base lending, asset based lending), telecoms finance, acquisition finance, cross-border real estate finance and secondary market trading.

Expérience

Advised:

  • A syndicate of banks on a US$300 million secured term facility to an Indonesian borrower in connection with its acquisition of an interest in certain nickel assets and RKEF smelters.   
  • The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and the syndicate of lenders on an English law that governed an up-to-$800 million senior secured term loan syndicated facility for Southeast Asia's leading ride-hailing company Grab Inc. 
  • FMO and a syndicate of European Development Finance Institutions in relation to a financing in Myanmar to Irrawaddy Tower Assets Holding Pte Ltd and Irrawaddy Green Towers Company Limited for the infrastructure construction of more than 2000 telecom towers across Myanmar. The transaction represents one of the first DFI led financings in Myanmar. 
  • HSBC and the syndicate of lenders on a common terms agreement structure to an Indonesian borrower in relation to a copper and gold mine in Indonesia, where the security package supports both a revolving credit facility (which can be replaced from time to time) and bilateral prepayment agreements to be entered into with individual banks.
