Joy Kreidi

Joy advises individuals, small local companies to large multinationals, as well as States in different economic sectors and industries, namely energy, construction and commercial agreements. She has helped resolve disputes for clients spanning subject matters such as goods or services supply agreements, distribution contracts, telecom contracts, construction, distribution of pharmaceutical products, team disqualification in professional sports, investments in waste management, hot water/heating, drinking water and electricity, press and real estate, lawyer/client disputes, corruption and illegality in the context of foreign investments.

Joy assists clients in arbitration-related proceedings, including annulment proceedings and enforcement of arbitral awards, before the French courts, but also advises clients in the context of similar proceedings before foreign courts (such as Singapore and Italy). Besides her work as counsel, she has also acted as administrative secretary of arbitral tribunals.

In addition to her experience in arbitration and related proceedings, Joy assists clients with respect to appeal procedures or class actions in the United States.

Clients served by Joy include Veolia Environnement and various of its international subsidiaries, the Republic of India and several Middle-Eastern stakeholders.

• Société d'Energie et d'Eau du Gabon in conciliation proceedings under the ICSID Conciliation Rules against the Gabonese Republic in relation to a water services and electric power concession (ICSID Case No. CONC/18/1), and Société d'Energie et d'Eau du Gabon and Veolia Africa in a related ICSID arbitration against the Gabonese Republic and a public agency in relation to the same concession (ICSID Case No. ARB/18/36).
• The Arab Republic of Egypt as respondent in an ICSID Arbitration initiated by a French multinational corporation with respect to a waste management services contract in a major Egyptian city (ICSID Case No. ARB/12/15).
• A US investor and his US companies in an ICSID Arbitration against the Republic of Romania in a dispute related to the expropriation and treatment of their investments in the press distribution and real estate sectors (ICSID Case No. ARB/10/13).

Represented in commercial arbitrations:

• A European energy company in a multiparty commercial arbitration against the municipality of an Eastern European city under the rules of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. The dispute arises from a long-term lease agreement.
• Two African companies in an ICC arbitration against an African State, in relation to a rural electrification concession.
• A contractor in a high value arbitration under the procedural regulations of arbitration of the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre, in relation to an infrastructure project in the UAE.
• A Middle Eastern party and two Middle Eastern companies in two related ICC arbitrations against a Middle-Eastern company and a French company, in relation to two non-exclusive distribution agreements in the Middle-East.
• A North American construction company in an ICC arbitration against a North African state-owned company, in a dispute related to the termination of a FIDIC contract for the construction of the company’s new corporate headquarters.
• A French company in an ad hoc arbitration against a Swiss company and an Italian company, in relation to architectural and design consultancy services in the context of a project in Italy.
• A Middle-Eastern individual in an ICC arbitration against an Asian company, in a dispute related to the breach of a contract of provision of legal services in an Arab country.
• A French company against an Asian company in an ICC arbitration, in relation to a disputed exclusive distribution agreement in China.
• A Middle-Eastern company in an ICC arbitration against other Middle-Eastern parties, in a dispute related to the breach of a Joint Venture agreement for the distribution of food products in the Middle East.
• A Middle Eastern company in an ICC arbitration against US companies, in relation to a disputed construction contract in a North African State.
• A British Virgin Island company in an ICC arbitration against US companies, in relation to a disputed construction contract in a North African State.
• A Middle-Eastern company against a European company in a CMAP arbitration in a dispute over a distribution contract in a Middle-Eastern country.
