Drea J. Rupert-Shropshire

Drea previously served as a Senior Counselor to the Administrator at the Transportation Security Administration where she played a key role in advising the Administrator through his Senate confirmation process and liaised between career and political leadership on matters related to pay equity, biometrics, and trade association partnerships. Before her time in the executive branch, Drea served as a Senior Legislative Assistant for Congressman and then Rules Committee Chairman James P. McGovern (MA-02) where she led the health care, judiciary, education, and anti-hunger portfolio. There, she drafted, introduced, and organized support for several pieces of legislation, notably including the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health Act.

Drea began her career in the United States Senate working for Senator Claire McCaskill, where she first gained experience in congressional investigations at the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee (HSGAC). As part of the oversight team, Drea focused on congressional nominations, oversight of the executive branch, and federal whistleblower complaints.

A graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center Evening Program, Drea believes in growing strong networks and mentorships amongst evening law students. She graduated summa cum laude, phi beta kappa with a BA in Political Science from Howard University.
