Houston Energy Conference

David was a panelist on a session at the American Bar Association’s 2024 Americas Conference, themed “The Future of Energy Across the Americas: Helping Lawyers Predict and Adapt.” This was a new concept for the Section and the first conference in Houston in more than 15 years. It brought together a network of energy-focused organizations, law firms, and scientific organizations for a week of learning, innovation, and building relationships focused on energy.

David’s session on February 29, 2024, “Beyond the Dollar: Non-Monetary Remedies for Energy Disputes,” was focused on wow can damages be specified before a dispute arises. The panelists explored non-monetary remedies in seeking redress to the damaged party, including issues such as contract provisions in long-term energy contracts, including specific performance and declaratory relief. They discussed what are the users’ needs, while bearing in mind practicality and enforceability and shared a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape of remedies, with a focus on achieving effective redress.
