New York State Goes Big(ger) in Second Offshore Wind Solicitation
According to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), “[o]n July 21, 2020, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo took another major step in advancing the State’s nation-leading climate agenda with the announcement of the largest combined solicitations for renewable energy ever issued by a U.S. state seeking 4,000 megawatts (MW).”
The announcement formally commenced the second offshore wind (OSW) solicitation (ORECRFP20-1) by NYSERDA for renewable energy certificates (RECs) for up to 2,500 MW of OSW. The solicitation was authorized by a recent Public Utility Commission order.
On July 21, NYSERDA also announced its fourth annual solicitation (RESRFP20-1) for qualifying RECs for up to 1,500 MW of eligible onshore wind resources.
