London - Mayer Brown announced today that Tom MacAulay has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate & Securities practice and Global Insurance Group in London. Tom joins from Legal & General, where he undertook several roles, most recently Structuring and Execution Director in the Institutional Retirement division’s Corporate Development team. Prior to that, Tom worked at two “magic circle” firms in London and Milan.

Tom has extensive experience advising on a wide range of corporate and commercial, M&A and insurance-related transactions, including pension de-risking transactions and related reinsurance. He has acted for a variety of insurers, other financial institutions and corporates.

Colin Scagell, London-based partner in Mayer Brown’s Global Insurance Group, said: “Tom has significant transactional and insurance experience acquired from his previous in-house roles at Legal & General, as well as while advising on significant deals in private practice. He will further bolster our team’s ability to provide state-of-the-art advice to clients in the life and annuity insurance and reinsurance areas. This will include pension risk transfer and related reinsurance and structuring work both in the UK and the US, advising on new insurance sector related products and utilising his wider insurance expertise across M&A.”

Dominic Griffiths, London managing partner said: “We continue to prioritise the addition of high calibre lateral hires in our London office to help us drive growth in our strategic areas. Tom will be a great asset to our market-leading Insurance Industry group and will also bring cross-office and practice expertise across corporate, finance and pensions, allowing us to continue to deliver the highest quality services to our clients.”
