Her experience involves the representation of investors, States, and State-owned entities in commercial and investor-State arbitrations under the ICSID, ICC, PCA, SIAC, LCIA, SCC, and UNCITRAL arbitration rules. She has successfully represented sovereigns in disputes against parties using third-party funders, and the dismissal of claims challenging jurisdiction in bifurcated proceedings. She serves as Tribunal Secretary in international commercial arbitrations, and counsels an intervening party in a matter before the European Court of Human Rights.
As well as her representation of clients before international tribunals, Maleeha advises clients in proceedings involving the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in US district courts in New York and Washington, DC.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Maleeha practiced at another prominent international law firm where she specialized in international arbitration. Before that, she served as a fellow to The Honorable Charles N. Brower, a leading international arbitrator, where she worked on investment treaty and international commercial arbitrations involving renewable energy, oil and gas, and technology distribution agreements. In addition to English, Maleeha also speaks Urdu.
