Hannah Vanderlaan counsels clients in complex environmental litigation, including toxic tort suits, products liability cases, class actions, and government enforcement actions. Hannah also assists clients with general corporate counseling on environmental compliance issues in the context of asset and stock transactions and environmental remediations pursuant to various state and federal requirements.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Hannah practiced at a Chicago law firm where she also focused on commercial and environmental litigation and regulatory counseling on solid waste and air issues. Before her admission to the Illinois bar, Hannah served as an Extern at the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5 Office of Regional Counsel and the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, Environmental Bureau.
Hannah has also been recognized as a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers for environmental litigation.
Experiência
- Support the representation of a major multinational company in connection with hundreds of claims pending nationwide (including the AFFF MDL 2873, one of the largest and most complex environmental MDLs pending in the United States) alleging personal injury, property damage and environmental harm associated with per and polyfluorinated alkyl (PFAS) substances.
- Assist in the representation of Veolia Environment against allegations associated with exposures to lead and Legionella bacteria resulting from the Flint Water Crisis.
- Representation of a metal supplier in connection with its status as a Potentially Responsible Party at the Portland Harbor Superfund Site, one of the largest and most complex Superfund sites in the country.
