Megan Von Borstel advises companies on best practices in privacy, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, and other areas of regulatory compliance, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the forthcoming California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other state, federal, and international privacy laws. She works directly with clients to develop robust, comprehensive, privacy programs by drafting clients’ privacy policies, data processing addenda, and other contractual agreements.

Megan has also assisted clients on a variety of cybersecurity incidents and regulatory investigations. She regularly counsels clients through incident response, remediation, investigation, and notification-related issues. She advises clients regarding technology transaction matters, including regularly drafting software licensing agreements, cloud computing licensing agreements, and service agreements.

Maintaining an active pro bono practice, Megan works with immigration, criminal defense, and LGBT civil rights organizations. She has successfully secured for multiple clients relief under the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and the Convention Against Torture, allowing her clients to safely stay in the United States.

While in law school, Megan was a Dean’s Fellow and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Washington University Jurisprudence Review.  Megan served as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Shirley Padmore Mensah, US Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, and worked at Washington University’s Children’s Rights Clinic and its Appellate Clinic, where she argued motions in orders of protection and custody cases and drafted a prisoner's appellate brief to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
