Kevin M. Wilkins

Kevin Wilkins focuses on all aspects of real estate law and regularly represents banks, institutional lenders, pension funds, and life insurance companies in the origination of construction, refinance, and acquisitions loans (mortgage and mezzanine) across all types of real estate and the servicing, modification, workout and restructuring of such loans. Kevin also has significant experience representing investors and developers in the acquisition, disposition and development of real estate. Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Kevin worked as in-house counsel for a publicly-traded real estate development and investment company.

Kevin is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and teaches real estate law at Loyola Marymount University.

  • Construction, renovation and acquisition loans (mortgage and mezzanine) in jurisdictions across the United States.
  • Syndication, master participation agreements, assignment and acquisition of commercial mortgage and mezzanine loans.
  • Complex capital structures, including multi-property financings and mortgage loans with multiple levels of mezzanine financing and/or preferred equity.
  • Modifications, pre-negotiation, forbearance agreements and deeds-in-lieu in connection with workouts.

Purchase, Sale and Development of Real Estate

  • Acquisition and disposition of life science, industrial, office, hotel and land development properties across the United States.
  • Representation of developers in connection with the development and re-development of property for multi-family, condominium, industrial, hotel and office use.
