MAYER BROWN SECURES APPELLATE VICTORY FOR DRW EXECUTIVE

Share

Mayer Brown secured a high-profile victory in a case of first impression in Illinois. An Illinois Appellate Court ruled that Illinois courts can exercise personal jurisdiction over non-resident defendants who sent defamatory letters to Illinois residents defaming a non-resident plaintiff, an executive of our client DRW. The appellate court held that the defamatory letters caused damage to the plaintiff’s reputation in Illinois, even though he was a non-resident.

The Chicago-based litigation team included partner Michael Gill, counsel Brett Legner, and associate William McElhaney.
