Gustavo Mata Morreo joins Mayer Brown as Counsel in the International Arbitration Team

Paris  Mayer Brown announces the arrival of Gustavo Mata Morreo as Counsel in the International Arbitration team of Mayer Brown’s Paris office.

Admitted to the Paris, Madrid, New York and Caracas Bars, Gustavo represents clients in commercial and investment arbitrations generally arising from energy and constructions projects around the globe. Throughout his 15 year trajectory, he has acted as counsel in a wide-array of international arbitrations proceedings conducted under the ICSID, ICC, SCC, UNCITRAL, CIAM rules.

Gustavo's extensive background includes representing multinational corporations in high-stakes arbitration proceedings under investment treaties and the laws of Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, UAE and New York.

Before joining Mayer Brown, Gustavo worked at leading firms in Caracas, New York and Madrid, where he advised on many high-profile arbitrations, including a handful of energy claimants in investor-State under the ECT and BITs, over reforms to the renewable energy sector. He also represented a series of investors in commercial and investment-treaty arbitrations stemming from Venezuela's nationalization of the O&G industry.

Gustavo is a frequent speaker at arbitration events.
