Shout out to Mayer Brown partners Henninger "Hank" Bullock and Niketa Patel and associates Nick Rodriguez and Anjanique Watt. U.S. District Judge Richard Young in Indianapolis granted summary judgment last week to their client Carrington Mortgage Services LLC in a False Claims Act case where the mortgage lender was accused of falsely certifying hundreds of loans that ultimately defaulted, kicking in Federal Housing Administration insurance coverage. The judge, however, found the plaintiff couldn’t show any alleged false certification by the company was material to the government’s payment decision or caused government losses
