New York, February 26, 2025 – Mayer Brown announced today that Hiral Mehta has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Investigations & White Collar Defense practice in New York. Hiral joins from the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, where he served as chief of the business & securities fraud section.

"With the new administration shifting priorities towards heightened sanctions enforcement and increased anti-money laundering concerns in the banking sector, Hiral's extensive experience will be very beneficial and enhance our litigation and regulatory offerings,” said Hank Bullock, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. “His proven track record in high-stakes government investigations aligns perfectly with our strategic goal of expanding our capabilities in these key areas. We are very excited to welcome Hiral to Mayer Brown at such an important time in the industry.”

Hiral's practice focuses on representing corporations, financial institutions, and executives in complex securities and commercial litigation, as well as government and regulatory investigations. His experience spans a wide range of matters, including securities fraud, wire fraud, healthcare fraud, bribery, money laundering, and Bank Secrecy Act compliance. As Chief of the Business and Securities Fraud Section at the US Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, Hiral oversaw hundreds of investigations into individuals and institutions, including leading high-profile cases, such as corporate investigations of a global credit card company, a major defense contractor, and a Swiss bank, as well as the prosecution of the former finance minister of Mozambique. Prior to joining the government, Hiral worked for several years at an international law firm handling internal investigations, and securities and commercial litigation matters for clients in the financial services industry.

"I am excited to join Mayer Brown and contribute to the firm's growth in its Global Investigations & White Collar Defense practice," said Hiral. "The firm's commitment to excellence and innovation, combined with its deep client base, presents a unique opportunity to refine my practice and deliver exceptional results for our clients. Mayer Brown is one of the few firms in the world with a truly global platform and a renowned litigation department, making it the right setting for the practice I want to build – focusing on cross-border issues, investigations, and regulatory enforcement. Additionally, Mayer Brown is rare among large law firms in having a robust trial practice, offering the opportunity to try complex, bet-the-company cases, which I highly value.”

"Hiral's track record of successfully navigating high-stakes disputes will be a tremendous asset to our clients," said Matt Ingber, managing partner of Mayer Brown's New York office. "As we continue to expand in New York, we are confident that Hiral will play a pivotal role in driving our growth and delivering exceptional service to our clients.”

Mayer Brown’s Global Investigations & White Collar Defense practice is among the international leaders with more than 75 lawyers and experience in over 85 countries. Over the past two years, the firm has strategically expanded its team by adding several key lawyers. This includes welcoming numerous senior government officials to enhance our capabilities in white-collar crime, investigations, cybersecurity, and sanctions and export control including: Arun Rao, Kim Hamm, Adam Hickey, and Justin Herring.
