Dubai – Mayer Brown is further expanding its Global Energy capabilities with the addition of partner Priya Shah in Dubai.

Priya, an experienced energy lawyer with more than a decade specializing in upstream oil and natural gas/LNG, joins the firm’s global team of international energy lawyers representing clients almost everywhere in the world where oil or gas is found. Priya’s hire shortly follows the addition of partners Chad Richards (Washington DC), Michael Kim (Singapore), and Alexandre Arlota (Rio de Janeiro) to the firm’s Global Energy group in 2025 alone, with the practice among the firm’s core areas of strategic growth.

Priya advises a full spectrum of clients including international and national energy companies, E&P independents, project developers, traders, and off-takers on major LNG and energy projects, as well as upstream oil and gas acquisitions and disposals. She is consistently recognized by global legal directories across the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East.

Nick Kouvaritakis, Global Co-Head of Energy, said: "I am delighted that Priya has joined the firm and this is a significant addition for the Energy practice and our Middle East practice. Priya has a fantastic track record advising on a wide range of energy transactions and is a dynamic partner with a very bright future in the industry. "

Tom Thraya, Managing Partner of Mayer Brown’s Dubai office, said: "Our clients will benefit from Priya's broad experience in the energy sector. Her addition aligns with our strategy to grow our domestic and cross-border capabilities in the energy, projects, and natural resources sectors, and further expands Mayer Brown's market-leading global capabilities.”

Priya Shah added: “I am excited to join Mayer Brown’s Dubai office and be part of a dynamic and growing team. The firm’s global reach and strong reputation in the energy sector present a fantastic opportunity to further develop my practice. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to drive innovation and deliver exceptional client service.”

The addition of Priya to Mayer Brown’s Dubai office follows a series of strategic hires, including Partner Anne Wicks in the energy practice, the relocation of Partner Paulo Rage from the firm’s Rio de Janeiro office to Dubai to join the projects practice and, most recently, the appointment of Partner Rafé Khokhar in the finance and capital markets practice.

Priya joins Mayer Brown from Ashurst’s Abu Dhabi office. She worked in Singapore and London prior to moving to the Middle East.
