John R.R. Tormey

He represents clients in all aspects of the development, acquisition, and financing of various types of energy-related and energy transition assets, including electric-generating facilities, gas pipelines, LNG facilities, transmission lines, carbon capture and sequestration projects, and hydrogen production projects. John offers clients his previous experience serving as senior counsel and legal advisor at Constellation Energy Group, Inc. for the development, acquisition, and divestiture of nuclear, geothermal, wind, coal, and gas-fired electric-generating projects and the finance, commercial, corporate and regulatory compliance matters for the company's non-nuclear generation fleet.

John previously served as a partner at another leading international law firm. 

Clients served by John include Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Diamond Generating Corporation, Constellation Energy Corporation, X-energy, and Harrison Street.

• Represented a private equity investor in its separate acquisitions of a portfolio of five solar projects and a portfolio of seven wind projects.
• Represented a major financial institution in its tax equity investments in a number of utility scale solar, stand-alone storage, combined solar and storage, and portfolios of distributed generation assets.
• An independent power company in its refinancing of an 800 MW simple cycle electric generating facility.
• Commodity desk of a major bank in the negotiation of the first secured solar energy hedge.
• Represented major financial institution in tax equity investments in a number of wind, utility scale solar, stand-alone storage, combined solar and storage, and portfolios of distributed generation assets.
• Represented independent power company in its development and project financing of a geothermal electric generating facility.
• Represented InterGen in separate project financings of a gas-fired combined cycle generating facility and natural gas compression station in Mexico.
• Represented UniStar in connection with the development, construction and financing of the Calvert Cliffs 3 Nuclear Power Plant, including financing under the US Department of Energy's loan guarantee program under Title XVII and by the French export credit agency.
• Represented Constellation in separate sales of its 2,600 MW Baltimore coal fleet and its interests in a portfolio of six qualifying facilities in California in connection with the CEG-Exelon merger.
• Developer of an 80 MW gas-fired peaker in Alberta, Canada.
